Introduction

Hypnosis has been used for hundreds of years; in fact it is thought that the pharaohs and ancient Chinese used it for medical purposes. It is a perfectly natural state of relaxation somewhere between daydreaming – which we all do every day – and being fast asleep. In this relaxed state it is possible for a therapist to talk to a client’s subconscious mind in order to help correct many emotional and physical problems that they may have. Hypnosis is perfectly safe as the client is always in control of the process, and no information can be extracted or given by the therapies if the client doesn’t want to participate. The client cannot be ‘made’ to do anything they wouldn’t normally be happy to do.
